A serving police officer appeared in court today charged with historic sex offences.
PC Richard Chamberlain, who is employed by West Midlands Police, is alleged to have abused a child in the 1980s.
The 49-year-old officer, who is based at Coventry Police Station, was arrested last October.
He was later charged with two counts of indecent assault and three of gross indecency.
Magistrates in Birmingham were told the alleged victim was under the age of 14 at the time of the offences.
Chamberlain, who sat in the dock wearing a coat, shirt and tie, indicated not guilty pleas to all charges.
He was bailed to appear at Birmingham Crown Court in November.
